Dreams In the Mist [closed]

In one of those rare moments, Damiana slept. She laid, curled tight in her bed, and once again, she dreamed. It wasn't that sleep never came for her, it was the fact that Morpheus was so rarely kind to her. Because of that, she avoided Hypnos' call until her body could not allow her to do so anymore. This evening had been no different. She could go days never sleeping to no ill effect, before they caught up and made her miserable.

Her body jerked slightly, a soft little cry echoing through the room. So rarely did she cry in waking moment, she had little say over the fact that she does so now in her dreams. The pillow would be soaked through come the day. But in the night, she had no possibility of reprieve from the nightmares that plagued her. And all the things she kept to herself came to haunt the young seer.

her brother sat by her bedside, and took her hand, hoping to supply some form of comfort to her. he knows his sister. knows she refuses to sleep, even before knowing why. and often hed sit awake at her bedside when she finally slept.

He touched her hand, held it really as he tried to comfort his sister in her nightmares. As he had night after cold night. Now, though, he knew the sort of things that haunted her dreams, what she suffered in her dreams. Perhaps not the ways that Morpheus twisted the events to make her bleed fresh each time. But Nic knew enough. Enough to want the god in question dead.

This night, it was to be different, however. Against his own will the boywas sucked into the dreamscape that had been built for his twin. It wasn't odd to have twins share the same dreams. It happened more often than most thought. Usually, the twins that experienced didn't speak of it, whether it be from fear that they'd be found abnormal, or simply a need to keep such private things to themselves.

Nic "awoke" in a landscape that looked entirely too familar. Their old school. Back when Damiana was still the sister he knew noth the angry girl that she'd become. Always headstrong, but never so eaten with rage. There was the horse. She'd called the mare Odyssey. It seemed fitting, at the time. There she was, riding astride the horse.

Nic seemed to be outside of this all. The rest of the people around don't notice him, one even going so far as to move through him. And he watched as the snake in the grass startled the horse that held his sister. The equine reared, then set off at a gallop. The only things that had saved his sister were superior riding skills and an ability to hang on through a very rough ride.

He was there to watch the end of the ride, to watch his now exhausted sister slump forward, tumbling from the horse to hit the ground with bone jarring force. He can also see the villian in this danse macabre that he played witness to.

her brothers heart shakes his body with rage. blind rage, tears in his eyes. this quickly killed all his logic. all thought. he knows where this leads and hed do anything to save her. he runs to her, desperaite to get to her first. one hand reaches forward, the other to where his gun should be.

He moved to touch his sister, to save her, and his hand passed uselessly through her. And closer crept the danger to his sister. She was having a bit of trouble stirring. A branch had struck her in the head. She felt dizzy and out of sorts. It wasn't until the god was nearly on top of her that she registered that she was not entirely alone, and in danger.

The god had pounced quickly upon Damiana, a large hand flattened over her mouth and nose. He can hear her give that choked cry, her air cut off. She struggles beneath him, uselessly, frantically.

his eyes are filled with rage and tears. his hands grab his guns and point them uselessly at the gods head. his real hand squeezes hers hard, tears falling onto her. "LET HER GO!" he yells and opens fire. "LET HER GO LET HER GO LET HER GO LET HER GO LET HER GO!!!" he keeps screaming

Being a god made things like disrobing a woman so much easier. With a gesture ofhishand, and a quiet swish of sound, her garments were in the grass beside them. The fear still screaming from Damiana's blue eyes, but now a certain hopelessness had darkened them slightly. She knew there was no way she'd be escaping until the man had done what he'd come to do. Until he'd gotten what he come for. But Damiana was nothing, if not a fighter. She refused to still and let it happen.

Fight the little demi goddess did, but the end result was the same. She really was so very tiny beneath the Thunder God. The young seer's body finally unmoving, like a doll's, and this is what Zeus treated it like, turning her this and that way. Her head fell lifeless to the side, eyes dead and distant. Like she'd retreated away from what was happening to her body.

The thing that happened next could only have been chalked up to a dream god's cruelty. Those blue eyes filled up with his sister's presence again, though not the innocence of this time. These were the familiar eyes that looked back at him every day now. She looked at him for seconds, blinking. Her mind was racing to catch up with itself. Horror overtook her features, the realization that Nic had been brought there, into her dream, had watched all of it happen. Throat dry and raw, she reached out to her twin with a sob. "Orion, no! No. No no no. Nononono."

Even then, the thunder deity rutted away inside the young girl's body. This was quite possibly the last thing Damiana would have ever wanted to happen. Tears on her cheeks, she tried to reach out to her brother's hand. Both phased through one another. It was a cruel trick to put them so close to one another, to let the idea of her twin being close enough to save her, only to have reality keep things as they'd been. No one could save her this. Not even her beloved Orion. And now, he'd live with the horrific day inside him, as well.

The real Damiana lay in her bed, curled around the hand she held, and gave the slightest of sobs, the sound no less heartbreaking for it's quiet.

when she calls his name, he collapses to his knees, his guns falling to his sides, tears in his eyes, dripping down and through her as he looks down at her. he reaches desperaitely for her hand, only shattering him more when he cant even do so much as hold it. he trys to speak. trys to do something. say something. help... somehow he had to help. he had to... but nothing. nothing....

his real eyes rained tears down. his whole body shook, he couldnt breathe through his crying. the cruel gods are breaking him apart.

As if something had taken pity upon the pair, the hands that laid so close once unable to touch very suddenly became corporeal. All either could do until the dream finished it's chain of horrific events would be to hold for dear life. Dami closed her eyes, murmuring to her twin. "It's just a little while longer, Orion. It's almost done. I'm so sorry. I didn't want you to see this." She's very nearly impossible to understand in the force of her sobs. These events had stopped breaking her heart a bit of time ago, but this new thing threatened to, even moreso than the rest.

She'd wanted one of them to keep their innocence for as long as possible. One needed to believe in the light. She had no faith in such things anymore, but Nic had. Now, she feared even he couldn't keep his hold on all of this. It tore her apart. 'No light, no light, in your bright blue eyes. I never knew daylight could be so violent. A revelation in the light of day. You can choose what stays and what fades away. I give anything to make you stay. No light, no light. Tell me what you want me to say.'

he held her hand tight, tears still flow heavily. "cant i do anything? cant i help you? please... please wake up." he held her hand to his cheek, his eyes closed in his tears. "my astra. my beloved sister please... wake up..."
